Disc Industry Expert Advises Consumers to WAIT to Purchase
High-Def Players on Black Friday
(BUSINESS WIRE)--The leader in disc repair and maintenance,
VenMill Industries, today announced that its in-house
optical media expert, Dan Diotte encourages consumers
to hold off on making a new high-definition video or
music disc purchase. The months leading up to today,
the biggest shopping day of the year, have been fraught
with controversy around the high-definition format war
between Toshiba's HD-DVD and Sony's Blu-Ray player/Play
Station 3.
The purchasing season has officially begun and media
giants, Hollywood studios, and blogging experts have
been urging consumers to choose between the two - leaving
many consumers confused and uninformed.
"You don't have to decide yet", said Dan Diotte.
"History has taught us that only one of these formats
is going to come out on top, and consumers who choose
the wrong product will lose money, time, and, of course,
quality home viewing entertainment. Wait to make this
significant purchase until after the holidays, and after
one of the two options appear to be leading the way
to the next level of home entertainment."
WHO: Dan Diotte, founder of Venmill Industries, is an
expert in the optical media industry. Diotte has spent
years researching and developing mechanical devices
to repair severely damaged CDs and DVDs. His background
in mechanical engineering and the science of polymer
longevity led to the discovery of Optoclear technology.
In January, Diotte will be launching the personal
and home "Skip Away" disc cleaner and restoration
system. VenMill Industries is the leading manufacturer
of disc repair and maintenance machines for disc format
optical media. Its flagship product, the VMI 3500, is
currently in use at video
store chains, libraries, corporations and personal collections
around the globe, to repair and maintain DVDs, CDs,
Game Discs and HD-DVDs while maintaining the integrity
of the discs. More information about VenMill is available
at www.venmill.com.
WHY: -- There is no guarantee that
either HD-DVD or Blu Ray will be
the clear leader a year from now. If consumers invest
in one
format, and it goes away, they will lose their investment
and
need to re-purchase a player, discs, accessories, etc.
-- A universal console may be developed
soon after the
holidays, allowing consumers to enjoy both of the new
format
options.
-- Consumers need more information
to make the right decision.
Many people don't know important details about both
products
such as:
-- Blu-Ray discs are irreparable.
-- HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players work
with both high
definition and older format DVDs.
-- Regardless of which player 'wins'
the format war,
maintenance and repair of current disc collections (
DVDs,
CDs, Video Games, data storage) is essential. The new
discs
will contain so much condensed information; they will
be
incredibly susceptible to dirt, scratches, and damage
to the
integrity of the disc.
