Platen Assembly

Platen Assembly for use in the Hybrid, Hybrid 2.0, and QuickSand.

IMPORTANT: Hybrid platens are designed to provide hundreds of successful disc repair cycles. Please keep in mind that their longevity is highly dependent on their usage environment.

Disc repair issues usually occur when the disc lets go of the platen during a cycle and spins independently. The friction caused by this action can degrade both the platen and the disc. Warning signs of this situation may be unusual sounds during operation, scuff marks on the disc label, or peeling of the platen grip material. You may also be able to see one or both of the orange head fans stall during operation.

This can happen as the pads age and get softer. At this point it becomes necessary to either replace the pads and center cup, or to increase the pressure between the lid/pads and the disc by using the adjustment screw*. Another cause can be a dirty platen which fails to grip properly. In this case, the platen grips should be gently wiped with a microfiber cloth and water.
